John Love from Conwal Badminton Club was action as Greenbank Badminton Club hosted an 40s tournament at the weekend, attracting players from across Ulster for a high-quality day of competition.

The final featured Conwal Badminton Club player John Love, partnering with Stuart Smyth, against George Chapman and Diane Gallagher. Both pairs produced an excellent display in a closely contested match.

After a tight and hard-fought encounter, Chapman and Gallagher came out on top. Despite the narrow defeat, Love and Smyth were delighted with their performances and their run to the final.

Conwal managers Dessie Nairn and Roberta McDowell praised the achievement, expressing their pride in seeing a club member reach the final on such a strong field and add to the club’s growing silverware collection.

McDowell commented that John Love has been in fine form throughout the season and that it was great to see him reach yet another final. She added that it marked another proud moment for the club, coming just five weeks after their victory in the Aodh McElhinney Memorial Shield.
