MOCHA. – One of the great Soccer players of the Dominican Republic, the young Jean Carlos López, was the Athlete of the Year of the Espaillat Sports Union (UDEPE) 2024, in an award ceremony held at the President Ramón Cáceres Museum.
In addition to López, the Espaillat Basketball Association (ASOBAE) stood out, with the Association of the Year, Event of the Year and Leader of the Year in the person of Ariel Vásquez, the coach of the year, was Jhonatan Sarnelly Matos (Basketball), Referee of the year, José Miguel Baré (Soccer) and Coopprospera company of the Year.
The president of UDEPE, Alexander Crisóstomo, thanked the official and private collaborations for the celebration of the event.
Also having motivating words were Ariel Vásquez, secretary of UDEPE, and Professor William Hernández, president of the Sports Union of Dominican Sports Unions (Fedude).
Those awarded by disciplines were; in women’s chess Arianny Ortiz Olivo and in men’s David Daniel Camacho, in women’s athletics Heilanny Ovalles Liriano and in men’s – Yohanel Antonio Almonte Arnaud, in women’s Badminton Robieyra Ruiz, in men’s Jonás Rafael Reyes Reyes.
Women’s basketball Jashlyn Michelle Pérez López, men’s Darwin Rosario, women’s handball Kimberly Mercedes Taveras Gregorio and men’s Jorge Luis Gómez Guzmán, men’s baseball Kevin Morillo, then women’s boxing Islen Nicole Herrera, men’s José Luis Hiciano Fabián, men’s cycling – Randy Ismael Sánchez Bencosme.

COACH OF THE YEAR ELECTED
Coach of the year, Jhonatan Sarnelly Matos (Basketball), Referee of the year, José Miguel Baré (Soccer), Manager of the year, Ariel Vásquez, the Event of the year was the 31st. Espaillat Superior Basketball Tournament 2025 (BSE), the sports reporter was Luis Fernando Guzmán.
The Association of the year was the Espaillat Province Basketball Association (ASOBAE), the Company of the year was the Multiple Services Cooperative (COOPPROSPERA) and the Athlete of the year 2024 was Jean Carlos López (Soccer).
The artistic presentation (opening) was by Kenia Espinal, the blessing of the event was by Héctor Almánzar, the activity was carried out at the Presidente Ramón Cáceres Museum, in one of the rooms dedicated to Don Mario Cáceres.
