EL NUEVO DIARIO, NEW YORK – Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown was fined $35,000 for publicly criticizing officiating, James Jones, executive vice president and head of basketball operations, announced today.
Brown made his comments to the media and on social media following the Celtics’ 100-95 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 10 at TD Garden.
Brown. With more or less reason – that is something that each one must judge – the reality is that the Boston Celtics forward finished the lost game against San Antonio fuming; so much so that he charged long and hard against the refereeing body, even directly naming the main referee, Curtis Blair.
«I’m tired of inconsistency. I accept the fine. I think tonight got to be ridiculous. The Spurs are a good defensive team, but not that good. I hope someone shows the videos of what happened, because it’s the same shit every time we play against a good team. It’s as if they refused to call a foul and then called fouls for minimal contact on the other side,” he begins by pointing out after seeing his team take only four shots before emphasizing that it is something that must be corrected as soon as possible.
«It’s extremely frustrating, brother. We play hard. We were exceeding our expectations. We compete hard on defense. They then reward the other team with minimal fouls. I hope someone please corrects this. The inconsistency is crazy. I accept the damn fine. Curtis, you were horrible tonight. I don’t care. They can fine me whatever they want. But it’s crazy. Every time we play a good team, it’s the same shit. Please someone check the videos.
Without lowering his tone in the slightest, Brown points out that he even has some theory about it, but in any case he goes to the practical point, which is seeing himself crash into rivals without ever pointing out anything.
