Vigo
The national team had never managed to participate in a European team championship. They qualified last December in Dublin and the Cíes Badminton player, Jacobo Fernández, was one of the members of the national team.
The Spanish Badminton Federation has just published the list of those called up for the final phase of the European Championship, which will be held from February 11 to 15 in Istanbul, and the Vigo player is once again one of those chosen.
Jacobo Fernández repeats the call after having achieved that historic classification. The Vigo player will participate, once again, in the doubles event. They will play their matches in group A against the current champion, Denmark. They also share a group with England and Finland. The first two finishers will be in the semifinals.
For Jacobo there will be competition this week because Cíes begins the Victor Swedish Open 2026 in Sweden, both in the doubles and mixed modalities.
