December 8, 2025 will forever remain an important date full of mixed emotions for the player. It was the day his child was born…and the day he lost his coach.
Maximilian Skoras was born on December 8, 2025. The same day as Ivan Leko’s departure for Bruges to succeed Nicky Hayen, who had been fired. So it was a very special day for Buffalos winger Michal Skoras.
Phone call to the hospital
“I received a call from Maskim Paskotsi at the hospital. Surprised, I asked him what was wrong, and he started laughing. I wondered how he could know about my child because we hadn’t published anything on social media yet,” the player told Het Nieuwsblad.
“And then he told me that the coach had left. A second before, I was still overjoyed, but my morale dropped to zero. For the rest of my life, I will associate the birth of my son with this call,” Skoras said in an interview with Flemish media.
A landmark affair, especially for Skoras. A few months earlier, on the recommendation of Ivan Leko, he had moved from the Club to Gent, although Leko was not the only reason Skoras left Bruges for Gent.
“His departure was painful, but I always tell others that in football everything can change in a week. Be prepared for the worst. It’s easy to make comments, but we don’t know how we ourselves would react in this situation. I think everyone is happy now and we can forget all this,” he concluded.
