Island Football: 41-Year Wait for a Miracle?

For 41 long years, we have been waiting for someone in Scottish football to dethrone Celtic and Rangers, and if that ever happens, it will be the current season of the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic and Rangers achieved a unique form of dominance in one league and together have 110 Scottish league titles. Both teams were champions of the country 55 times, and the last club to taste the sweetness of lifting the trophy is Aberdeen, writes klix.ba.

Back in 1985, Aberdeen led by Sir Alex Ferguson won the title of Scottish champion, and after that this famous expert moved to Manchester United, made an unprecedented dominance and ended his career.

All that time, nobody but Celtic and Rangers have been Scottish champions, but that could change this season after strange winds began to blow over Edinburgh.

Heart of Midlothian, or Hearts as many call it, is playing the best football in Scotland this year and could easily become champions.

Hearts are currently top of the Scottish Premiership table and have a solid six-point lead over Celtic and Rangers. However, that is not the only thing going in favor of Hearts.

Hearts plays the best football in that league, makes the least amateur mistakes and glitches, and in direct duels has an incredible ratio of 4:0:0.

This team beat Celtic both home and away in two games this season, and did the same in two duels with Rangers, showing that they are ripe for big things this season.

The season is long, but neither Celtic nor Rangers have shown with their games this season that they could match the nice Hearts in direct clashes.

The Hearts team is led by Derek McInnes, and the team is worth only 21 million euros according to Transfermarkt. The biggest star is the 26-year-old Portuguese Claudio Braga, who is worth only 2.5 million euros, as well as club captain Lawrence Shankland.

However, the value of the players this year clearly does not beat the battle in Scotland, so the Hearts players are performing above all expectations.

As well as becoming the first club in 41 years to break the dominance of Celtic and Rangers, Hearts could win a title that has been 66 years in the making. The last time they were champions was in 1960, and they have a total of four and are currently the third club in the number of Scottish championship titles.
