On Saturday evening (January 31st, 7 p.m.) the Iserlohn Kangaroos are in the BARMER 2nd Basketball Bundesliga ProB North the next away game on the program. The head coach’s team Toni Spacious guest at the Baskets Juniors TSG Westerstedethe farm team of EWE Baskets Oldenburg from the easyCredit BBL.
The Ammerlanders helped decide the first leg in the Matthias Grothe Hall at the start of the season 74:89 for itself – a result that underlines the quality of the newcomer. Westerstede is also in strong form in the current phase: with five wins from the last ten games and two wins in a row, the most recent of which was against the reigning leaders ETB Miners Essen, the team is in sixth place in the table. The Iserlohners, on the other hand, are currently in 12th place, level on points with the first relegation place and therefore under pressure in the upcoming away game.
Strong newcomer with BBL experience
Westerstede benefits from the close cooperation with the Oldenburg professionals. Eight players of the squad have a BBL license, two of them – Jon’ll Fugett and Colin Schroeder – already gained first league experience. Schroeder has already appeared six times in the BBL, including three times in the starting line-up. In the ProB North, however, Fugett clearly stands out. He counts 328 points one of the best scorers in the entire league (2nd place) and impresses with his athleticism and wit.
Kangaroos want to get back on track
Die Iserlohn Kangaroos travel to Westerstede with the clear goal of getting another positive result and building on their strong phases of the season. Managing Director Michael Dahmen demands a concentrated and determined demeanor from his team: “We know that we can do better. The team works well, commits itself and shows in training what is possible – now we finally have to show that in the game too”emphasizes Dahmen.
At the same time, he holds the entire team accountable:
“Personnel problems can no longer be an excuse. The players who are on the field have the quality to compete in this league. I am convinced that our squad is strong enough – now it’s about showing this quality consistently.”
