It wasn’t until October 2025 that the German tennis talent Isabella Angelina Abendroth ventured onto the ITF tour for the first time, but the 15-year-old’s results give hope for a promising career.
At the W75 tournament in Hamburg, Isabella Angelina Abendroth appeared in the field of participants at an ITF event for the first time, but in round one the DTB hopeful lost to Johanna Silva 2:6 and 5:7. It continued at the small W15 tournament in Taby, Sweden, where Abendroth mastered the qualification and made it to the quarter-finals.
The third appearance is currently at the W15 tournament in Norway’s capital Oslo – on Wednesday the talent set the next exclamation mark there.
After qualifying victories against the Indian Souvena Shibu and the German Maja Schweika (both without a place in the WTA world rankings), a high hurdle awaited in the first round with the Swiss Katerina Tsygourova (number 546 in the world rankings), which Abendroth mastered surprisingly successfully.
Tsygourova clearly took the first set from the young German 6:1, but most of the games only narrowly went to the Swiss.
German tennis talents are well represented in the starting field
Afterwards, Abendroth really turned it up, took set two to zero and prevailed in a tight decider 6:4. Even an early break from her opponent in the third round couldn’t upset Abendroth. After being down 3-1, Abendroth won five of the following six games.
Either local hero Kajsa Helgesen (currently not in the WTA world rankings) or Sevil Yuldasheva from Uzbekistan (number 1276 in the world rankings) is now waiting for Abendroth in the round of 16.
From a German perspective, 19-year-old Ann-Akasha Ceuca (number 743 in the world rankings) had already reached the round of 16 in Oslo. The 16-year-old Julia Hofmann (currently not in the WTA world rankings) and 19-year-old Carolin Raschdorf (number 872 in the world rankings) still have their first round duel ahead of them, the fourth-seeded Carolina Kuhl (number 552 in the world rankings), however, had to give up.
