Jakarta –
The Indonesian contingent won 135 gold medals and ranked second at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games which was held in Thailand. These results exceeded the initial targets set before the contingent’s departure.
The National Commission on Disabilities (KND) monitors the fulfillment of the sports rights of athletes with disabilities from the preparation stage to the implementation of the championship. Monitoring has been carried out since early November 2025 through coordination with the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPCI) as well as direct assistance in the field.
The 2025 ASEAN Para Games will take place on 20 – 26 January 2026 in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima. Since January 19 2026, KND has carried out direct monitoring to ensure that facilities for athletes and officials are met, including accommodation, food, medical support and mobility to the match venue. Monitoring was carried out by KND Commissioner Jonna Aman Damanik together with Prof. Reda Manthovani as Chief of Mission Indonesia.

“Sports rights for people with disabilities are mandated in Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities, including for performance sports. With the enthusiasm and unity of the Indonesian Team, we are confident that the minimum target can be achieved,” said Jonna Aman Damanik in a written statement, Wednesday (28/1/2026).
Previously, in a joint coordination meeting with NPCI and Chief de Mission with Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir in November 2025, the Indonesian contingent was targeted to win a minimum of 82 gold medals and penetrate the top three of the final standings. This target was set taking into account the training camp which lasted only about two months.
“A total of 539 athletes and officials were released by the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, in Solo on January 10 2026. With limited preparation, the Indonesian contingent closed this event with 135 gold, 143 silver and 114 bronze medals,” he concluded.
