A new transfer for Mohamed Ihattaren seemed to be in the making. The creative from Fortuna Sittard was explicitly linked to a transfer to Wydad Casablanca and it was written that he would cooperate with a certain transfer fee. A line can now be drawn through a lightning departure.
Fortuna Sittard coach Danny Buijs has relegated the transfer rumors to the realm of fables. “Excluded. Sensationalism, that is my reaction,” he said in conversation with The Limburger. This makes it almost certain that Ihattaren will leave Fortuna Sittard after just six months. The attacking midfielder and wing attacker came over from RKC Waalwijk last summer.
Buijs’ reaction is also striking. There were earlier reports that people in Sittard were indeed prepared to cooperate in the departure of Ihattaren. The correct amount would then have to be put on the table. It was written that a transfer fee of around five million euros was being considered. Ihattaren is under contract with Fortuna Sittard until the end of the season and the almost 24-year-old has an Estimated Transfer Value of 1.4 million euros.
Transfer to Wydad Casablanca
A transfer to Wydad Casablanca is therefore not possible. Mohamed Ihattaren knows that the Moroccan top club will not be his next destination. Wydad is currently the leader of the competition in Morocco. At the top club, Ihattaren could have become the teammate of Nordin Amrabat and Hakim Ziyech, who signed with the club a few months ago.
However, it also seems that Ihattaren does not have to be sad that he is not leaving for Wydad. A transfer to the Moroccan top club turned out not to be without risks. It even looked like his career would once again be hanging by a thread. From, among other things, data from SciSports a worrying picture emerged.
