(London = News 1) Guest Reporter Lee Ji-ye = The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has been the subject of controversy over suppression of violence, is carrying out an operation to crack down on illegal immigrants at the Super Bowl (National Football League (NFL) final), the largest sporting event in the United States.

According to Fox News on the 28th (local time), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that a large number of ICE agents will be deployed to the 60th Super Bowl game to be held in Santa Clara, California on the 8th of next month.

“As with all major sporting events, including the World Cup, we will work with our local and federal partners to ensure the Super Bowl is safe for everyone,” DHS spokeswoman Trisha McLaughlin said. “Our mission remains the same.”

Spokesperson McLaughlin said, “We will ensure Super Bowl security through a government-wide response in accordance with the U.S. Constitution,” and emphasized, “People who are in this country legally and have not broken the law have no reason to be afraid.”

DHS advisor Corey Lewandowski appeared on a podcast last October and warned, “There is no safe haven for illegal immigrants,” and “Not even the Super Bowl. We will find you and deport you.”

The NFL has not yet made an official statement on the issue of ICE agents being deployed to the Super Bowl. Some civic groups organized a ‘No ICE at Super Bowl’ protest.

The Trump administration is deploying federal agents, including ICE, to crack down on immigration and indiscriminately suppress protests throughout the United States.

This month, U.S. citizens Renee Good (37) and Alex Preti (37) were shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

ICE agents will also be deployed to protect U.S. diplomatic and security personnel at the Winter Olympics to be held in Milan and Cortina, Italy next month.

The Trump administration is hiring large numbers of new ICE agents and drawing on resources from other federal agencies to conduct large-scale immigration raids. Some are criticizing that ICE has turned into an SS to push President Trump’s desired policies.
