PSV is looking at Hwang Hee-chan again. Due to the wave of injuries in Eindhoven, the name of the Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker has surfaced again. The South Korean has been on the radar for some time and now appears to be a serious option again.
The interest is not new. PSV has been keeping an eye on Hwang for a long time and also knocked on their door last summer after Alassane Pléa was injured. A transfer did not happen at the time; Myron Boadu was eventually brought to Eindhoven. The situation has now changed: Boadu, Pléa and Ricardo Pepi are all in the sickbay. As a result, the leader of the Eredivisie is once again thinking about offensive reinforcement.
Hwang fits well into the profile that PSV is looking for. The attacker is versatile and can play as a striker or from the left. According to English sources from SoccerNews the people of Eindhoven have now informed the attacker’s entourage. Hwang is considered one of the serious options to strengthen the vanguard.
PSV is currently exploring the market extensively and is in discussions with several clubs to map out the possibilities. Hwang is having a difficult season at Wolverhampton. The club is heading for relegation and the attacker is not always certain of a starting place. A (temporary) departure would therefore not be unwelcome to him. Hwang is still with the bottom of the Premier League until the summer of 2028.
Hwang played twenty games for Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, but almost never completed the ninety minutes. That changed last week, when Hwang played ninety minutes against Everton. In those twenty games that Hwang played for the Wolvesthe attacker only scored twice.
Jørgen Strand Larsen
An important reason for Hwang Hee-chan’s disappointing performance is the presence of Jørgen Strand Larsen. The Norwegian striker is the first choice at the point of attack this season and can count on a lot of interest from Germany, among others. Although the former FC Groningen striker has only scored once in the Premier League this season, he can still count on a lot of minutes. (23 games, 1,497 minutes)
