Nightmare scenes unfolded in the Finnish league.

Hugo Alnefelt, 24, got a skate on his head – and had to leave in an ambulance.

– You don’t think it’s a penalty?!, coach Olli Jokinen shouted at the referee.

It was in October that Hugo Alnefelt, who belongs to HV71, was loaned to Helsingfors IK in the Finnish league.

And it was in the meeting between HIFK and Ilves Tampere that the accident happened to the Swede.

Early in the first period, Teemu Engberg skated straight at the 24-year-old and hit him in the head with his skate, according to Finnish media.

The trainer’s anger

The Swede was left lying on the ice for a long period, but quickly received treatment before being rolled out on a stretcher and taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The former Timrå coach, Olli Jokinen, now in HIFK, was furious with the referee after the situation.

– You don’t think it’s punishment? He goes straight into the blue zone, he is not outside the goalkeeper area. Isn’t it in the blue zone where the goalkeeper is supposed to be protected? Okay. Don’t blow the whistle when the exact same thing happens on the other side later in the game, he yelled at the referee.

According to Finnish media, Alnefelt is said to be stable, even though he is still undergoing tests at the hospital.
