As teh 2026 winter transfer window swings open, football clubs worldwide are scouting for reinforcements. For Club Brugge, the focus isn’t on a massive overhaul, but rather strategic additions to bolster their squad, especially on the wings.
Club Brugge’s Director of Football, Dévy Rigaux, has indicated that while the club is active in the market, a significant influx of new players isn’t anticipated. Rigaux expressed confidence in the team’s current midfield depth. “I believe we are well-equipped in midfield right now,” Rigaux stated. “We’ve found a solid replacement for Jashari in Stankovic.” The anticipated return of Ludovit Reis and the continued presence of raphael Onyedika further solidify their midfield options, making additional signings in that area seem unnecessary.
Similarly, the club doesn’t see an urgent need for reinforcements in defense or between the posts. Club Brugge is looking forward to the return of Nordin Jackers and, notably, the experienced Simon Mignolet, whose contract is nearing its end. “Simon is working incredibly hard on his recovery to get back to full fitness,” Rigaux commented. “He’s persistent to give his all for one last top performance.”
The club’s primary attention is directed towards strengthening the wide areas of the pitch. “We are more focused on other positions, like the wingers, for example,” Rigaux explained. “Tzolis is a dominant force and consistently available, while Forbs can make a significant impact at times.” Though,Club Brugge acknowledges that young talent like Diakhon still requires development to consistently influence matches.
This is precisely why Blauw-Zwart is actively seeking additional offensive firepower. “We understand that Diakhon is a young player with immense potential, but he’s not always ready to make a decisive difference consistently,” Rigaux concluded. “We are looking for someone extra to fill that role. If we identify an opportunity to significantly improve our attack, we will act, but a winger is a particularly crucial target.”
