Hellvig & Åhman: Kings of the Court – DN Direkt

Jonatan Hellvig and David Åhman won the exhibition tournament Kings of the court at Avicii arena.

– It’s ten out of ten, can’t get better than this it feels like, says Hellvig to SVT.

There was a real elimination in the last round of the final. Hellvig/Åhman took the match-winning 15 points, while the pairs from Austria (Tim Berger/Timo Hammerberg) and Norway (Anders Mol/Christian Sørum) were on one point each.

– We get incredible support here from the audience, says Hellvig about the around 4,000 people who made it to Avicii arena on Thursday evening.

The Swedish pair, “young guns”, Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson also made it to the final, but went out in the second round.

The ladies’ Queen of the court was decided earlier on Thursday, where Norway won over Finland, with the Swedish duo Isabelle Reffell and Tina Thurin in third place.

The exhibition tournament is different from matches at the Beach Volleyball World Cup. Several teams play to get as many points as possible during a 15-minute long round, with the possibility of scoring on only one of the court halves, the one called “Kingside”.
