The National Police of Haiti (PNH) reported on the seizure of a large arsenal of weapons and ammunition during an operation carried out on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in the neighborhood of Bel Airconsidered the stronghold of the leader of the gang known as Jamesley, in Port-au-Prince.
The information was offered through a press release published on December 31 and distributed by the Haitian newspaper The Nouvelliste.
The intervention, carried out with the support of the Task Force, aimed to groups armed qualified as terrorists that operate in this strategic area of the Haitian capital.
According to the PNH, the operation allowed not only the seizure of a significant volume of weapons, but also the neutralization of several people linked to the group led by Jamesley.
“The recovered arsenal has been formally registered and certified by the Armament Service of the Logistics Directorate of the PNH, in accordance with the current procedures“, indicated the police institution in its statement.
The weapons
Among the seized material are a Mavic type droneseveral 9 mm and 22 mm caliber pistols—some of them counterfeit—, assault weapons like an M16 rifle and a counterfeit Kalashnikov rifleas well as three 12-gauge shotguns. Communication and logistical support equipment was also seized, including radios, batteries and chargers.
However, the PNH highlighted that the most alarming aspect of the operation was the amount of ammunition recovered. In total, 4,094 5.56 mm caliber cartridges and 867 7.62 mm caliber cartridges were seized, which, according to the institution, shows “a extremely high capacity of damage” by these armed groups.
During the operation, the home of the alleged leader of the gang was destroyed, which represents, according to the National Police of Haiti“and hard blow to the operational capabilities of the terrorist gangs operating in Bel-Air.”
The institution reiterated its determination to maintain actions on the ground and stressed that the capture of Jamesley, who remains fugitivecontinues to be a absolute priority for the Haitian authorities.
