Habib Beye: SRFC’s Top Coach?

The sentence seemed impossible to contemplate in the fall. Between the 1st and 10th day, Stade Rennais only won 2 victories, reaching a worrying 10th place in the standings. Only 3 pts separate the SRFC from the red zone. We then imagine experiencing an ordeal season, marked by the imminent departure of Beye.

Except that today, the tide has turned in Brittany. Rennes is 6th with 30 ptstied with OL (5th). The season is still long, but it is clear that Habib Beye is settling in for the long term on the Rennes bench.

Habib Beye in front of Genesio and Lacombe!

SRFC has won 6 of its last 7 matches. An exceptional series, which gives hope to Breton supporters. And other numbers confirm how Beye is in his place. With 1.73 points taken per match since the start of the season, the young coach is among the highest scores in Ligue 1.

But if we look at Beye’s record since his arrival in Rennes, we observe a mind-blowing statistic. Habib Beye is the coach with the most points per match at SRFC (1.69 pts/match – minimum of 32 matches and 3 pts victory).

The former OM player is ahead of Bruno Genesio (1.68 pt/match in Ligue 1) as well as Guy Lacombe (1.64 pt/match). Yes, Beye’s debut in Rennes was chaotic. But it is clear that the SRFC shines against the big names in the championship. And is more than ever involved in the race for Europe!

As a Saint-Etienne supporter, I have not lost hope of seeing the Greens return to the top. In the meantime, I’m relying on other historic French football clubs to take my trouble patiently, and thus admire clubs like RC Lens.
