Present at a press conference this Tuesday, Pep Guardiola was questioned about the transfer window. And the Manchester City manager has confirmed there will be no huge moves. And for good reason, as PSG does, the Spanish technician refuses to stack the players.
Last summer, the PSG decided to recruit very little despite the risk of injury after a grueling season, and despite certain gaps in the squad, particularly on the right-back positions and in midfield. A choice completely accepted by Luis Enrique, who wants to give the young people at the training center a chance. And obviously, this strategy is validated by Pep Guardiolawho even has the same ambitions as his compatriot.
Guardiola – Luis Enrique: Same fight
« We may recruit someone, but it will be different. We are not going to recruit four or five players like last year », he confides at a press conference before continuing by explaining his desire not to stack players.
“35 players in the squad is not viable for the team”
« Of course, if there are six or seven injured, you need 35 players in the squad. But it is not viable for the team, neither economically nor in terms of the atmosphere within the group. Sometimes the club has to sell because we have to balance the books, but I am happy with the squad we have. I just hope Gvardiol and Dias can return soon. I’m convinced we can make it happen », added Pep Guardiola.
