Bayer 04 Leverkusen is currently not expecting an early departure from Alejandro Grimaldo. How BILD reported, there is much to suggest that the left-back will stay with the factory club beyond next summer.
Grimaldo’s contract runs until 2027 and an early extension is considered the ideal solution internally, but currently appears difficult. Nevertheless, there is confidence in Leverkusen that the European champion will remain with the club, at least in the medium term. An early departure is therefore not expected.
In terms of sport, Grimaldo can hardly be replaced by Bayer. The 30-year-old continues to be one of the most important players in the team and shapes the game primarily through his enormous quality in set pieces. In the current season he has already played 20 competitive games with nine goals and five assists – values that underline his special role on the left side.
The club’s interest in keeping Grimaldo long-term is correspondingly great. For now, however, there are many indications that Leverkusen can continue to rely on its key player in the coming season.
