Grabher Australian Open Exit: Recap & Highlights

For Julia Grabher, the Australian Open ends in the second round.

The 29-year-old from Vorarlberg lost to the Russian Anna Kalinskaya (WTA 33rd) on Thursday in 1:14 hours of play 3:6, 3:6.

In the first set, Grabher managed to break early, but subsequently gave up her own serve twice and lost the set 3:6.

In the second section it was Grabher who managed the first break again, but again she had serious problems with her own serve games and was broken four times.

Jump in the world rankings

A not entirely unsuccessful week is coming to an end for Grabher. For the first time since the French Open 2023, she won a Grand Slam tournament and thus reached the second round.

This is also rewarded with a small jump in the world rankings. Officially, the Vorarlberg native is still in 95th place, but in the live ranking she currently appears to be in 77th place.

With Anastasia Potapova, Austria has another player represented in the women’s singles. The 24-year-old will face world ranking leader Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus on the night of Thursday to Friday (CET).
