After Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat at Sunderland FC, Oliver Glasner takes a sharp shot at the club’s own management.
The Noch-Palace coach, who will not be extending his contract, which expires in the summer (read here>>>), clearly criticized those responsible after the tenth competitive game in a row without a win.
The team was “completely let down,” said Glasner. He was alluding to captain Marc Guehi’s upcoming move to Manchester City.
“I always kept my mouth shut”
“I can’t blame any player,” Glasner made clear. There are twelve or 13 players from the squad available, it’s been like this for weeks and months, you don’t feel supported. “The worst thing is that we sell our captain the day before a Premier League game,” said Glasner on the BBC.
This transfer is the second time this season that his heart has been ripped out – the first time was when Eberechi Eze was sold to Arsenal. “I’ve always kept my mouth shut, but now I can’t do that anymore because I have to defend these players because today was the 35th game,” said Glasner, who criticized the slim squad.
“Only children on the bench”
“I look at the bench, I can’t react. There are only children on the bench, and that hasn’t just been the case since yesterday, but for weeks. That’s why I’m really frustrated today,” said Glasner.
But he’s not thinking about saying goodbye before the end of the season: “I would never do that. I’ll stick with this group of players until the end.”
