The last game of the regular season no longer has any meaning for the New York Giants. Long before Sunday evening’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, the team from the Big Apple had been eliminated from the NFL playoff race.
Nevertheless, the team, or rather a player on the team, was the focus of late. Theo Johnson is officially out of the Giants’ final game of the season due to an illness. But that didn’t stop the tight end from watching the New York Knicks’ NBA game against the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden on Friday.
As a camera caught him and his face appeared on the legendary arena’s video cube, he happily waved to the rest of the audience. There was no sign of illness. He also posted on Instagram: “I’m not sick.”
New York Giants: Theo Johnson does not have a contagious infection
So why is the 24-year-old officially listed as ill by his team? It didn’t take long for the Giants to respond. They told NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo that Johnson had contracted an infection.
However, this is “neither flu nor COVID”. There was therefore no danger to himself or those around him.
