KRC Genk is currently in Marbella. There, coach Nicky Hayen prepares his men for the second half of the season. But he can no longer rely on one of the experienced staff members in the support team, although the club is committed to ensuring that he is replaced in a dignified manner.
Despite failing in last season’s Play-Offs, Racing started the current campaign with the necessary ambitions. The Limburgers were even counted among the title candidates. But those expectations were by no means met. They did perform well in the Europa League, Genk is currently only ninth in their own competition.

Reinforcement in framework
Meanwhile, KRC also lost in the cup. So the board decided to stop working with coach Thorsten Fink. A week later, Hayen, himself recently dismissed from Club Brugge, was introduced as his successor. He must get the Limburgers back on the right track. For this purpose, he has already received reinforcement in the framework.
For example, the day before the trip to Spain, Genk confirmed the return of Johan Van Rumst as assistant coach. He had been working for Jong Genk since the summer and is now making his return to the first team. In addition, physical trainer Glenn Vanryckeghem was brought back after an adventure at AA Gent.
Replacement for permanent video analyst
But on the other hand, Hayen now plays an experienced force. Racing announced the end of the collaboration with Peter Persoons through official channels. He was brought in as a video analyst under then head coach Peter Maes and remained loyal to the club over the years.
However, the collaboration ends after about 10 years. A cause for the break was not communicated. Although Hayen does not have to worry too much: Persoons will be replaced anyway. “The sporting management is now looking for a new video analyst and hopes to complete Nicky Hayen’s staff soon,” the club website said.
KRC Genk has said goodbye to video analyst Peter Persoons, who was part of the technical staff of the first team for many years.
