Giacomo Galanda is born on January 30, 1975 in Udine. Started playing basketball in the youth teamUBC Udine. Subsequently he spent a yearHigh School in the States, then, despite the possibility of going to college, he prefers to return to Italy Verona. He remained with Scaligera from 1993 to 1997 where he won one Italian Super Cup as MVP of the competition, he played in one Italian Cup final and one Euro Cup final. In 1997 he arrived at Fortitudo Bologna and in the first year he wins the Italian Cup and played in a Scudetto final, but his playing time was not very high, so he was sent out on loan to Varese. At the end of the year he was one of the protagonists of the Star Shield and at that point he returned to Fortitudo. He stayed another four years Bolognawhere he played others four Scudetto finals, but he only won one. After which he landed at Siena for two seasons where he won his third Scudetto e another Italian Super Cup. He then played for Olimpia for a year Milan and then he went to Varese where he played for five seasons. With Varese they were initially relegated to A2, but then immediately regained the top flight. He ended his career in Pistoia where he remained for his last three years and where he won another promotion to A1. Galanda was also a great protagonist in the national team where it boasts: a bronzeand argento and a gold at the European Championships and a Olympic silver in Athens 2004. Once his playing career was over, he remained in Pistoia with managerial duties and gave life to the “Academy” project. Since January 2017 he has been a federal councilor of the Italian Basketball Federation. On 5 June 2018 he officially joined the board of directors of Pistoia Basket 2000. For the four-year Olympic period 2021-2024, Galanda was re-elected as federal councilor and was appointed head of the school sector and assistant to Gaetano Laguardia, national head of 3×3 basketball.
