Fujisan Cup Judo: Funding Drive for Japan Trip

The members of the Coulommiers judo club have the hope of flying to Japan, direction fijusan Cup. “We have always built ourselves through exchange and openness towards others, we hope that this will continue,” says Rémy Vanwymeersch, the coach.
The approach is not only sporting, the section is looking for people or companies who could help it finance this trip to the province of Shizuoka.

Recently came to the Bretonniere for an internship, Soïchi Hashimoto invited the club, 8 young people and 2 supervisors. Coulommiers will represent France at la Fujisan Cup on March 21 and 22, an honor bestowed by this Olympic medalist champion. This tournament concerns the under 12s, the youngest in the second year and the junior first year, there will inevitably be happy and disappointed people, eight competitors per country are authorized during this international tournament at the foot of the Mont Fuji.

An unforgettable experience

The tournament will be the priority but not only as the coach specifies: “We are invited to the days of the tournament by the organization, we will then stay a few more days to train in Japanese dojos and visit the main tourist places. We want to make this short stay (7 days) an unforgettable experience for our students.”

The club, which makes Japanese judo a model to follow, has not had representatives in Japan for several years, with covid-19 slowing down exchanges and immersion in Japanese culture. A recovery conditioned by the generosity of the Briards, the club then wishes to maintain the link, the judokas would be delighted to welcome young Japanese. “Of course, it wasn’t a trip that was planned for this season but we seized the opportunity. Any person or company who wishes to support us is obviously welcome,” concludes Rémy Vanwymeersch.
