1/28/2026 – The Elola Sports Complex in Fuengirola will be the venue this Sunday, February 1, for the first day of the VI Provincial Badminton Circuit, a competition that is being held for the first time in the city and will bring together 167 players belonging to 11 clubs in the province of Malaga.

This was announced by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, who highlighted that the Sohail Fuengirola Badminton Club will serve as the host club and will also be the largest in the tournament, with a total of 26 players registered.

“We are very satisfied that Fuengirola is opening the Málaga Provincial Badminton Circuit for the first time,” said Rodríguez, emphasizing that “this sport has come to the city to stay, thanks to the boost we have given it over the last year together with the Sohail Fuengirola Badminton Club, which will be the club with the greatest representation among the participants.”

The competition will take place throughout the day on Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Elola Sports Complex facilities, and will feature the participation of athletes from different categories.

The councilor has also highlighted the growth experienced by the Sohail Fuengirola Badminton Club in just one year of existence. “It is very gratifying to see its evolution, the result of the work and dedication of Esther Sanz, who has managed to consolidate a club that began with just four or five players and that today has a solid youth academy and an outstanding group of veterans,” he noted.

Finally, Julio Rodríguez has reaffirmed the City Council’s commitment to the promotion of new sports modalities that enrich the local sports offer and has encouraged the residents of Fuengirola to come to the Elola Sports Complex this Sunday to enjoy the badminton spectacle.
