Frankfurt: New Coach for Theate & Batshuayi

Dismissed two weeks ago, Dino Toppmöller has officially been replaced at the head of Eintracht Frankfurt. The German club has entrusted its bench to the Spaniard Albert Riera, from NK Celje (Slovenia).

Eighth in the Bundesliga after 19 days with 27 points, Eintracht Frankfurt has had a start to the season below expectations. In the league, the club took only three points in its last five matches and was eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League, with a total of four units.

At the end of October, Frankfurt also left the German Cup prematurely, eliminated in the round of 16 by Borussia Dortmund. A string of disappointing results which coach Dino Toppmöller ultimately did not survive.

Who is Arthur Theate and Michy Batshuayi’s new coach at Eintracht Frankfurt?

Sacked two weeks ago, the former coach of Michy Batshuayi and Arthur Theate was dismissed from his position following the 3-3 draw conceded against Werder Bremen on January 18.

His successor is now known. This is the Spaniard Albert Riera, from NK Celje (Slovenia), who has signed with Eintracht until June 30, 2028. He will take up his position at Deutsche Bank Park.

Former coach of the Girondins de Bordeaux during the 2023-2024 season, Albert Riera has built a solid track record in Slovenia. He won a league title (2023) as well as two National Cups (2023 and 2025), with Olimpija Ljubljana (2022-2023) then NK Celje (2023-2026).
