According to Villarrreal, the Argentine was operated on by doctors Mikel Sánchez and Antonio Maestro, accompanied by the Castellón club’s medical services, at the MiKS Hospital in Vitoria.
The game was averaging 20 minutes when the Argentine defender made a bad move with his left foot and stopped immediately, drawing the attention of the doctors. Foyth was unable to put his left foot on his feet again and due to the area of pain (Achilles heel), he raised concern.
His compatriot Franco Mastantuono greeted him affectionately while the doctors escorted him without supporting his foot. The next day, the “Yellow Submarine” revealed that Foyth Achilles tendon ruptured and that he will have to undergo surgery and then go through a long recovery process that automatically ruled him out for the World Cupwhich will begin in the middle of the year.
Although Villarreal did not announce the recovery time, the minimum loss due to a ruptured Achilles tendon is expected to be around eight months, so the footballer said goodbye to the remainder of the season and his chances of being called up by the Argentine National Team facing the next World Cup, after being part of the team that won the title in 2022 in Qatar.
Foyth’s is a significant loss for a Villarreal that could evaluate its options of going to the market to reinforce itself in the center of defense.
This Spanish team also has two long-term absences in defense, such as Logan Costa and Willy Kambwala, although the latter could reappear in February after injuring the hamstring in his left leg in August.
