Football Leaks: Rui Pinto Japan Entry Ban

Rui Pinto was, this Wednesday, prevented from entering Japan. On the social network He also regretted not having been “clarified in a timely manner” about the “obstacles”.

“I landed in Tokyo today and I was not allowed to enter Japanese territory due to the fact that I was sentenced in Portugal, in the Football Leaks case, to a prison sentence of more than 1 year, even if it was suspended”started by writing.

In the same message, Rui Pinto lamented “like neither the Japanese Embassy in Lisbon nor the immigration services in Tokyo” o “have clarified in a timely manner about the existence of obstacles to my entry into Japan”.

This, in his own words, “despite having contacted them previously”.

It should be remembered that, in September 2023, Rui Pinto was sentenced in the Football Leaks case, by the Central Criminal Court of Lisbon, to four years in prison with a suspended sentence, for crimes of attempted extortion, aggravated mail violation and illegitimate access.

The computer hacker was, however, acquitted of the crime of computer sabotage due to lack of evidencein addition to having been pardoned for 68 crimes of improper access and 11 crimes of violating correspondence under the law of amnesty, imposed by Pope Francis’ visit to Portugal.

The conviction was announced this Monday, around three years after the Football Leaks trial began.
