“The forecasts change every day, but we are closely monitoring the situation, together with the representative of the Competitions Department in each province,” said Nand De Klerck, spokesperson at Voetbal Vlaanderen.
The decision on whether or not to cancel will be made no later than Friday, around 12 noon. “Unless of course it is obvious.”
New playing dates for postponed matches
Many (catch-up) matches were also canceled last weekend. Voetbal Vlaanderen also published new playing dates on Tuesday morning. Clubs with approved site lighting will catch up on Wednesday, January 28 (8 p.m.). Clubs without approved site lighting will catch up on the match on Wednesday, April 1 (6:30 p.m.).
Why is it not moved to the free weekend on February 15? Given the unfavorable weather forecasts, additional postponed matches may be played that weekend.
New playing dates for the provincial cup competitions will be published by the provincial leagues during the course of this week.
