The “Sports Director Course” at the University of Udine accredited by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) restarts. Last year, in its first edition, the training initiative allowed 28 out of 29 participants to obtain the qualification qualification from the Federation. The course in fact provides the skills necessary to operate in the management sector of professional football and prepares for the FIGC qualification exam for the qualification of sports director. The training initiative, directed by Michela Cesarina Mason, is organized by the Department of Economic and Statistical Sciences of the Friulian University. Udinese Calcio and the Italian Sports Directors Association sponsor it.
The course aims to guarantee mastery of the technical-sporting, economic-managerial and legal knowledge essential for registration in the special list of “Sports Directors” of the FIGC and for the optimal performance of the profession. The training lasts 144 hours, with afternoon lessons – 70% in person and 30 online – from Monday to Wednesday. A maximum of 30 participants are expected. The qualification exam is organized by the FIGC in the Technical Center of Coverciano.
Five professionals make up the Technical Scientific Committee: Gianluca Di Marzio, sports journalist for Sky Sport; Filippo Galli, coach, sporting director and former director of the Milan youth sector; Luigi Carlutti, lawyer specialized in sports law of the “Grassani e Associati” law firm; Giovanni Messina, coach, athletic trainer and regional federal coordinator of the FIGC for the youth and school sector; Alberto Rigotto, director responsible for administration, finance, control and relations with shareholders of Udinese Calcio and project manager of the new Stadio Friuli.
