Flamengo note
“Flamengo is proud to have Isaquias Queiroz, one of the greatest athletes in the history of Brazilian Olympic sport, on its team. Olympic champion, with five medals at the Games, and a world reference in canoeing, Isaquias wore the Sacred Mantle for around 7 years in this last stint, ending his cycle at the club in a remarkable way and leaving a legacy of achievements that makes us proud.
Within a strategic assessment aligned with the premises that guide Flamengo’s Olympic sport, the club ends its participation in canoeing. The decision is in line with the red and black philosophy of combining competitive excellence with continuous investment in training, developing athletes and strengthening modalities through permanent structures.
Currently, both Isaquias Queiroz and Gabriel Assunção, Mateus dos Santos and Valdenice do Nascimento do not reside or carry out their training in Rio de Janeiro. This context makes it impossible to consolidate structured basic work and train new talents, fundamental pillars of Flamengo’s sporting project and an essential part of its historical DNA.
Flamengo thanks Isaquias Queiroz, Gabriel Assunção, Mateus dos Santos, Valdenice do Nascimento and Roberto Maehler for all their professionalism, dedication and the achievements achieved during the period in which they defended the Sacred Mantle, and wishes them complete success in the continuity of their sporting trajectories.
The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo also ends its participation in the pararemo. The club would like to thank athletes Michel Pessanha, Gessyca Guerra, Diana Barcellos and Valdenir Junior for representing the Sacred Mantle with dedication, commitment and sportsmanship, contributing to the red and black history of parasports. Flamengo recognizes the importance of their trajectories and wishes them complete success in continuing their careers“.
