FIFA Rankings: Germany’s World Cup Year Position

National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will be down one place in January. An Africa Cup finalist overtakes the DFB selection.

The German national soccer team is entering the World Cup year in tenth place in the world rankings. The team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann fell by one place in the ranking of the world association FIFA compared to December 2025.

The reason is Morocco’s jump from eleventh to eighth place. The 2022 World Cup semi-finalists benefited from their recent entry into the African Cup final, which the hosts lost 1-0 after extra time to Senegal. For Morocco it is the best placement ever. Senegal also made a big leap forward and is now twelfth.

European champions Spain remain the front runners, ahead of world champions Argentina and France.
