FIFA: African Football Development Investment – Gulf News

London – (dpa): FIFA has allocated more than 1.2 billion US dollars to football development projects in Africa during the period from 2016 to 2025, as part of its increasing interest in investing in the African continent in an effort to develop global football.

The funding provided through one of FIFA’s programs represents 23.6% of the total global funding for this initiative, making Africa one of the largest beneficiaries of the International Federation’s flagship development project.

According to this program, each African member association of FIFA receives 8 million US dollars every four years, to cover operational costs and long-term development projects.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has also allocated targeted support to the least financially efficient federations, within the framework of strengthening the principle of justice and sustainability.

Each member association whose annual income is less than US$4 million receives an additional US$1.2 million, and the additional amount is allocated to travel costs and the purchase of equipment.

Infrastructure development remains a major part of the Viva Forward programme, which helped implement 201 infrastructure projects on the African continent between 2016 and 2025.
