In the hunt for new attacking impetus, Feyenoord has contacted Botafogo for Matheus Martins, according to reports. GE Globo and the Brazilian branch of ESPN. According to the latter medium, the Rotterdammers have even made an offer.

Martins is a 22-year-old, right-footed left winger who also sometimes plays as a right wing attacker or attacking midfielder. Since the summer of 2024, he has played for Botafogo, which paid no less than ten million euros to take him over from Udinese. The youngster previously played for Fluminense and Watford.

In October last year, Martins injured his thigh. He missed nine games for Botafogo, before making his return this month in the match against Portuguesa-RJ (0-2 win), in which he played for more than half an hour.

Now the Brazilian youth international has the opportunity to shine in the Eredivisie. Feyenoord reportedly likes Martins and brought in according to ESPN even made an offer.

The amount of that offer is not discussed, other than that Botafogo wants to see a significant part of the investment in Martins returned. Dennis te Kloese will therefore have to pay a considerable sum of millions to provide Robin van Persie with a new attacker.

Things are extremely restless in South Rotterdam after the derby defeat against Sparta (3-4). After that match, Quinten Timber declared war on his trainer and is on his way to the exit, where Olympique Marseille is waiting for him.

Justin Bijlow may also have played his last match for the ailing top club. The goalkeeper is one successful medical examination away from a transfer to Genoa.
