Feyenoord wants to strengthen itself with Jeremiah St. Juste this month, it is reported FR12 Sunday. The 29-year-old centre-back has become sidetracked at Sporting Portugal and may be allowed to leave on a free transfer in the winter.
It would mean a return to De Kuip for the lightning-fast man marker. St. Juste also wore the Feyenoord shirt between 2017 and 2019. The Groningen-born defender scored six times in fifty matches.
The number two in the Eredivisie is currently experiencing some personnel problems at the center back. Head coach Robin van Persie only has access to the fit Anel Ahmedhodzic and Tsuyoshi Watanabe.
Thomas Beelen and Gernot Trauner are still struggling with injuries for months and so Feyenoord – as Van Persie also indicated – is looking for golden opportunities in the winter transfer period.
St. Juste is just such a godsend. The 29-year-old stopper regularly played for Sporting last season – he appeared on the field in six Champions League matches – but has now been sentenced to the B-team.
As a result, he has played less than a minute this season for the team led this year by 44-year-old Rui Borges. According to FR12 the Dutchman is therefore allowed to leave in January, despite the fact that he is still stuck in Portugal until the summer.
Sporting would like to remove his salary from the payroll. Whether Feyenoord can and wants to meet his salary demands remains to be seen. In any case, the club sees an asset in St. Juste.
“He has been thoroughly examined internally and within the staff and management of Feyenoord it is agreed that he would be an immediate addition to the current defense,” it can be read on the Feyenoord platform.
