Feyenoord is in discussions with Leo Sauer about a new contract. Július Sauer, the attacker’s father and agent, said this in an interview with the Slovakian medium. tvnoviny.sk.
Július Sauer is not only Leo Sauer’s father, but also looks after his business. In this capacity he can reveal that there is contact about a longer stay. “The management sees his progress and has started negotiations about a contract extension. There is a lot of interest from other clubs, so they would like to sign him for a longer period.”
Reports have appeared in Slovak media about AS Roma’s alleged interest in Sauer. Is there any truth to that? “I admit that I also saw it on the internet. I also asked my colleagues, but I don’t know at what stage it is. Anyway, we are happy that Leo plays at the club and has self-confidence, he also believes in himself more,” answers Sauer senior, whose son still has a contract in Rotterdam until mid-2028.
The father of the Feyenoord attacker does dare to admit that not too long ago a club came to Rotterdam in an attempt to loosen Sauer. “Yes, a renowned club from Saudi Arabia, but we politely declined the offer.” Inquiries have also been made from Germany. “A club from the Bundesliga, from the top five, has him high on their list. There was also another major interested club. They asked whether we could talk about a transfer in the winter or only in the summer.”
It will most likely not come to a winter transfer, expects father and agent Július. “Then Feyenoord should receive a very interesting offer of 15 million euros or more in the next two weeks. I don’t know if that will happen this winter. If he had already scored ten goals, I am sure he would have. He is world-class in several areas.”
