A distinctive feature of the crossing was the figure of Enzo Pérez: The former River Plate player officially debuted with the Argentinos Juniors shirt, which reinforced its squad with other renowned additions such as Gino Infantino, Brayan Cortés and Leandro Fernández. Despite the presence of these reinforcements, which responds to the greatest demands of the calendar that, in addition to the objective of the Argentine Cup, includes the dispute of the Copa Libertadores playoffs, the promotion team was the one that gave the grade.
It is worth remembering that Midland is experiencing the best moment in its centenary history. Merlo’s club celebrated in 2025 by winning the Apertura and Clausura Tournaments of its category, which gave it the absolute title and the long-awaited promotion to the Primera Nacional for the first time in its 111 years. Furthermore, Funebrero has the distinction of being the only club among the two main categories of Argentine football that plays in a stadium with completely synthetic grass, although this peculiarity will not have a direct impact on the match, since the Lanús headquarters has natural grass.
Argentinos Juniors, current runners-up of the competition after also losing on penalties in the Independiente Rivadavia final, will try to break a 16-year drought without titles in the remaining tournaments: the Apertura and the Copa Libertadores.
