FC Montreuil-Amiens: Coupe de France Exit – Proud Performance

The dream has passed for FC Montreuil. That of becoming the first R1 club (6th national level) to reach the round of 16 of the Coupe de France since US Montagnarde in 2002. Despite a good performance (especially during the first act) the 9-3 amateurs were beaten (2-4) this Saturday in the 16th final by the pros of SC Amiens (L2).

In Bobigny, in a packed Delaune stadium (more than 1,500 people), the Narvalos, mini-kop ultra of the Seine-Saint-Denis club, make their voices heard from the kick-off. And it doesn’t take long for them to exult. At the end of the 15th second of play, Dos Santos escapes on the right side and sends a precise cross to Adel who catapults the header into the back of the net (1-0, 1st).

An interruption for offensive chants

An ideal start but short-lived. Amiens responded quickly by scoring twice in the space of 4 four minutes by Rafii (1-1, 9th) and Ikia Dimi (1-2, 13th). In no way discouraged, the Montreuillois lay siege to the Picardy goals but lacked efficiency through Soumaré (21st and 22nd) and Dos Santos (45th). Quite the opposite for the Amiens who make the break through Averlant (1-3, 29th) on their 3rd opportunity of the match.

Returning from the locker room, the L2 team added to the score after 24 seconds with Lurtin (1-4, 46th). But the fans did not give up and reduced the score following a face-off won by Kadded (2-4, 48th) who scored his 16th goal of the season in all competitions.

After a short interruption of the match for offensive chants, the game resumed under the control of Amiens. Montreuil creates one last opportunity through Diabaté who misses his duel in front of Sauvage (75th). In the process, Muteba was sent off for a poorly controlled tackle.

The match is definitely over. The Montreuillois, authors of several performances since its start in the competition in June, against Granville (N2) and Chauvigny (N3), can come out with their heads held high.
