Oumar Diouf wasted no time in being decisive: the striker who arrived from RFC Liège scored just after entering the game… and a few hours after being designated eligible for the match.
We witnessed a small miracle at La Louvière: in the majority of scenarios, Oumar Diouf would never have made the trip to the Easi Arena. His transfer from FC Liège was finalized but the player’s papers were not yet in order.
“We take three points here… thanks to the hard work to make him eligible,” smiled Wouter Vrancken after the match. “On Friday, we didn’t yet know if he would be available the next day.” It was only late Saturday morning that all the lights were finally green.
Omar Diouf was not on the STVV players’ bus
Behind the scenes, everything was done to finalize the agreement on time. STVV employees took care of the documents, while fallback solutions were considered to get the player there. “Peter Delorge is actually also the man of the match today,” says Vrancken.
Delorge, team manager of Saint-Trond, did everything to help Oumar Diouf make the journey separately once the papers were validated. The players’ bus was already on its way to the Easi Arena and the Senegalese striker was training with his teammates for the first time in La Louvière.

“All these efforts have made the difference and it’s very nice to see,” concludes Wouter Vrancken. Diouf, for his part, was naturally over the moon.
