Guéhi was originally supposed to be hired as a reinforcement for the central defense, but the competition from Manchester was quicker. A name that is now increasingly being traded on Säbener Straße is Jérémy Jacquet from Stade Rennes, like the sports newspaper The Team reported. The 20-year-old Frenchman is considered one of the most promising defensive talents in Ligue 1. Despite his young age, Jacquet has already established himself as a fixture in Rennes’ defense and is under contract until 2029. His strengths in tackling and playmaking make him a sought-after player on the international transfer market.
FC Bayern with the next new signing?
Rennes plans to keep Jacquet until the end of the season to further increase his market value. There is a transfer fee of around 60 million euros, which would make the transfer a costly undertaking. This strategy is reminiscent of previous transfers by Désiré Doué and Jérémy Doku, which also brought Rennes high income.
FC Bayern is not the only club that has its eye on Jacquet. Chelsea FC is also showing interest in the young defender. Jacquet is also being watched internationally, including by Real Madrid. Royal scouts have already been spotted at several Rennes games.
Although FC Bayern is well positioned in central defense, the club remains active on the transfer market. The background is the unclear future of Min-jae Kim, whose role in the team may need to be reassessed. In this scenario, Jacquet could be a long-term reinforcement.
