Farioli: Why He Chose Porto Over Other Offers

FC Porto coach, Francesco Farioli, closed the door on leaving the Dragons in the middle of the season. At the press conference previewing the game with Santa Clara, the Italian coach admitted that he feels “deeper” feelings for the Porto players than he felt for the other clubs where he worked.

“Stay until the end of the season? For sure. There are no doubts, there never were doubts. If I remember my previous experiences, at Nice and Ajax, leaving in the middle of the season was never on the table for me. It’s not something that’s in my head. Here, at FC Porto, I believe that in terms of connection and relationship with the president and the club, I have something bigger and deeper. I am fully committed to the club and connected with the reality we are in. Here, for the first time in my life, I have the feeling that I can add something and continue to build the foundations to build a “first floor”. I am very grateful to those who gave me the opportunity to coach a club of this size. The other questions are not even a topic at all. That kind of noise doesn’t even enter my head.”
