The main absences are those of defender Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain) and midfielder Casemiro (Manchester United), possibly the two main leaders of the team in Ancelotti’s mind.
But there is an obvious explanation for this divergence. Both the defender and the midfielder are now in their 30s and, due to their older age, have seen their prices drop considerably, as they no longer have an expectation of resale and have a tendency to decline technically and physically over time.
In the opinion of “Transfermarkt”, the defender who inherits Marquinhos’ place would be Murillo, from Nottingham Forest, a name that is far from being one of the 26 guaranteed by Ancelotti for the World Cup.
Casemiro’s replacement is not one player, but three. The platform prices Andrey Santos (Chelsea), Éderson (Atalanta) and João Gomes (Wolverhampton) exactly the same, at 40 million euros (R$250 million).
The most expensive Brazilian player today is still Vinícius Júnior, the owner of the left wing of the team. The Real Madrid star is valued at 150 million euros (R$936 million), compared to 80 million euros (R$500 million) for Estêvão (Chelsea) and Raphinha (Barcelona), who appear next.
