The sport of American football in the “Four City” should live on: With the AFV Dülken Lions, a new initiative is currently being formed that aims to bring a breath of fresh air into the regional football landscape following the dissolution of the Concordia Lions. The aim is to quickly set up a new football department with youth teams in the U14, U16 and U19 age groups.

Viersen-Dülken – All interested parties aged twelve and over are expressly addressed, regardless of gender, physical stature or previous sporting experience. We’re not just looking for players, but also coaches, supervisors and helpers. “Everyone is needed in American football – there is a suitable position for everyone,” emphasize the initiators. The club is also open to inclusion: players with handicaps are welcome, provided their physical conditions allow it.

The start is initially planned to be deliberately low-threshold. The offer starts on a hobby basis, and if there is sufficient response, a senior team should also be created in the future. In this case, registration for league play with the American Football and Cheerleading Association NRW (AFCV NRW) is planned. Those responsible are currently examining various options for joining a parent club.

The monthly fee for youth players is expected to be 10 euros. If enough interested people come together, the training will start in March 2026. The first meeting is planned for Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 1 p.m. to around 3 p.m. on the Bolten-Elf lawn on Brabanter Straße (near house number 129 or extension Hartmutstraße 23) in 41751 Viersen-Dülken. Thereafter, weekly training is scheduled on Saturdays at 1 p.m.
