Domen Prevc Wins Four Hills Tournament – Ski Jumping 2024

The Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc has the Four Hills Tournament won. However, the 26-year-old missed his third day’s victory on the tour on the Paul-Außerleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen with his jumps of 138 and 138.5 meters. He ended up in second place. The Austrian Daniel Tschofenig took the day’s victory in front of 12,500 spectators (137 and 140.5 meters). The Japanese Ryōyū Kobayashi achieved third place (137 and 138 meters).

In the overall ranking of the 74th Four Hills Tournament, Prevc has 1,195.6 points after the fourth competition, clearly winning ahead of the two Austrians Jan Hörl (1,153.3 points) and Stephan Embacher (1,150.6 points). He is also the first Slovenian since the 2015/16 season to win the overall ranking of the tour. At that time, his brother Peter Prevc won three of the four competitions.

“I’m totally overwhelmed by all these emotions”

After jumping, Prevc said about his overall victory: “It’s a very special moment. I’m totally overwhelmed by all these emotions.” When asked how he would celebrate his victory, he said: “Now I’m actually going to have a glass of beer. After that, my celebrations will be to get as much sleep as possible.”

His brother Peter was one of Prevc’s first to congratulate him: “Domen loves ski jumping. We’re seeing the results now,” the 33-year-old told ARD. Domen’s sister Nika, who had won women’s ski jumping a few hours earlier in nearby Villach, was also excited in Bischofshofen: “I wrote him a short message, he made a few jokes. I wish him all the best,” she said before the competition.

Germany’s last winner so far, Sven Hannawald, raved about the new overall winner of the Four Hills Tournament: “He prevailed with flying colors. At the end you can see in his face that there is a liberation.”

Two German ski jumpers in the top ten overall

In the German team under national coach Stefan Horngacher, Felix Hoffmann (133 and 137 meters) in tenth place and Philipp Raimund (133.5 and 129.5 meters) in twelfth stood out again in Bischofshofen. Pius Paschke (125.5 and 129.5 meters) came in 24th place. Andreas Wellinger (120.5 meters) and Karl Geiger (115.5 meters) were eliminated in the first round as 35th and 45th.

In the overall ranking, Hoffmann (1,120.3 points) came sixth and Raimund (1,089.6 points) came eighth. Paschke (838.4 points) came in 23rd place.
