The Miami Dolphins are making a very special personnel decision in their search for a new general manager.
The Miami Dolphins have long since been eliminated from the race for the NFL playoffs. In preparation for the new season, the franchise now needs a new general manager – and has made a very special personnel decision.
So the Dolphins hire a Hall of Fame quarterback to help them select the new GM. But it’s not Dan Marino, who is already on the club’s payroll.
Instead, several US media outlets are unanimously reporting that the franchise has hired Troy Aikman as a consultant for the upcoming GM search.
Aikman hired only for GM search
And although the three-time Super Bowl winner with the Dallas Cowboys is said to have thought about becoming GM himself, he is reportedly not a candidate.
His short-term consulting role does not necessarily contradict his work as an analyst for “ESPN,” since the Dolphins do not participate in the postseason.
By the way: The team’s new general manager has a variety of tasks to solve. Among other things, there is the question of whether coach Mike McDaniel will continue – and what the plan for the quarterback position looks like.
