With several players away at the U18 WC, juniors Disa Carlsson and Filippa Fernström got the chance, where the latter made her SDHL debut.
After only 30 seconds we incurred the first sending-off of the match, but we resolved the situation with a good box play game. A few minutes later we got the chance in the power play and created several dangerous opportunities, but Djurgården resisted.
Djurgården played disciplined and made it difficult for us throughout the match.
And it was the visitors who took the lead after 8:28, when a shot was headed in behind Klára Peslarová. It was the only goal of the period in an even and tight first period where we won the shootout 8-7.
In the second period we came out with more speed and took the initiative in the game. We got two opportunities in the powerplay, but without a payoff.
After that, we established clearer pressure in Djurgården’s zone and created several opportunities, but the goals did not come and the period ended goalless.
The pressure continued in the third period and after nearly seven minutes of play, the long-awaited equalizer came. Mina Waxin made it 1–1 and was thus noted for her fourth goal of the season.
The goal gave us energy and we chased a lead goal.
With about four minutes remaining, the visitors had a chance on the power play, a potentially decisive situation, but we resisted strongly.
The match went to extra time.
In overtime, the game swung back and forth with chances for both teams, but Djurgården finally managed to decide and take the extra point.
