Despite starting at a disadvantage due to the latest history, the Serbian Novak Djokovic (4th) confirmed that he is more current than ever this Friday by defeating the Italian 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4 Jannik Sinner (2nd) and advance to the final of the Australian Open 2026generating the reaction of tennis players, athletes and celebrities through social networks.
After battling for four hours and 9 minutes in the last round of the Rod Laver Arena, the owner of 101 titles at the highest level, 24 in Grand Slam tournaments, earned praise from locals and strangers for such a presentation against the two-time defending champion of the oceanic event, further consolidating himself as one of the best players in history and granting him some incredible longevity records.
One of the first to echo the feat would be the American Andy Roddickformer leader of the ATP rankings and 2003 US Open champion, in his podcast: “I just know that we witnessed greatness again. He beat Sinner, who has been dominating and was the two-time defending champion. When the moment becomes big he has the ability to embrace it. I’ve never seen anyone so comfortable in that setting. “To do this at 38 years old… If anyone asks Novak about retiring in the next six months he should be fired.”
Along the same lines, the British Tim Henman would not want to be less than his former colleague and would join in the praise on TNT Sports: “An amazing performance by Novak Djokovic. Dismiss this legend at your own risk.. “What he has produced today is absolutely remarkable.”
Another person who would speak would be the French woman. Caroline Garciasemifinalist of the US Open 2022 and retired last season, writing an emotional message on her X account: “If there was still any doubt about who the GOAT is, today the debate is over. Unreal what Djokovic is doing. Bravo”.
While the Argentines Juan Martin Del Potro y Guillermo Coriathe North American giant John Isner and the renowned actor Ben Stiller would choose to comment on their own publication, as well as the Swiss Stan Wawrinkathe basketball player Luka Doncic and the ex-footballer Didier Drogba would highlight their disbelief in a post with emoticons, the controversial French coach Patrick Mouratoglou would surrender at the feet of the Balkan: “Novak shows once again why he is the GOAT“.
Finally the French Marion Bartoliwho would achieve glory at Wimbledon 2013, would not hesitate to praise the unrepeatable career of the Belgrade-born: “Djokovic is not only the best tennis player, but he is probably the greatest athlete in history. At around 39 years old he will play in his 38th Grand Slam final.”
