With 69 selections between 2000 and 2008, El Hadji Diouf is one of the greatest pure talents that Senegal has known, with whom he was notably finalist in the African Cup of Nations in 2002. In his seventeen-year career, he has played for ten clubs, including Sochaux, Rennes, Lens and Liverpool.
