David Toupé: Louisiana Pioneer Story

A former high-level badminton player who became quadriplegic following a skiing accident, David Toupé was the first promoter of para-badminton in France. At almost 40 years old and after two participations in the Paralympic Games, he is still one of the world’s best wheelchair specialists and continues to work for the development of his sport.

 Quand j’étais gamin, je voulais faire du foot  sourit David Toupé quand on lui demande comment est née sa passion pour le… badminton. Mais les sports d’extérieur lui étant déconseillés en raison de son profil asthmatiforme, le jeune breton se tourne vers les disciplines en salle que l’on peut pratiquer à Saint-Méen-le-Grand, la commune d’Ille-et-Vilaine où il a vu le jour le 19 mars 1977.
